Staff Picks: All the Stuff Our Editors Fell in Love With This Week

By The Editors

Welcome to InsideHook’s Staff Picks, a compendium of all the stuff our editors have been digging on recently.

Eames Hang-It-All Storage Rack
Design With Reach is currently hawking furniture designed by Charles and Ray Eames — including their ubiquitous, iconic lounge chair and ottoman — for 15% off, which happens approximately never. Only downside? Even at 15% off, the lounge chair will still run you $4,500. But the sale also includes some more accessible pieces from America’s most iconic design duo, like this whimsical coat/hat rack, which is available in six colorways and starts at $170. — Walker Loetscher, Editor in Chief

Ultima Replenisher Electrolyte Hydration Powder
I’ve been going to the same yoga studio for over a year now (I know, thank you), but I always overlooked the little packets of powder on the counter, mainly because the name Ultima conjures the image of a sensible car. But I was feeling depleted after class, so I started grabbing one of these and — yeah, it could be placebo — I swear my savasana has gotten way better. — Athena Wisotsky, Senior Editor

Faherty All Day Short
These shorts repel moisture with the best of ’em, making for a great first line of defense against summer swamp-ass. They also dry quickly once they’ve actually been in the water. I love the cut on them, as they fall a few inches above the knee for a more modern look. Bonus: A zippered back pocket. — Eli London, Director of Partnerships and User Acquisition

Amabilis Dave Jr. Tactical Duffel
My summer schedule is currently all give, no take. As in: my vacation days are going towards weddings/family, not personal trips, ergo my weekends will consist of bolting the second it’s clock-out time. In service of those moments, I’ll be toting the Amabilis Dave. Jr duffel. The new take on their Dave bag offers the same heavy-duty construction (18-ounce waterproof tarpaulin body and armor-plated SuperFabric bottom) but in a compact size for when packing light is the name of the game. — Alex Lauer, Associate Editor

Ten Toes Zed Longboard
I’d been flirting with the idea of getting a longboard for a couple years. But anytime I visited Landyachtz or a similar site I tabled it for a later date, derailed by the hefty pricing. After some recent research (which finally went a bit further than just oohing and aahing) I bought this boat from Ten Toes for $60 and have been out every day since. It’s an addicting, mindless activity, one never too late to try, and the Zed — 44 inches of maple and bamboo — is the perfect beginner’s board. — Tanner Garrity, Associate Editor

Project Fire
When you’re firing up the grill this summer, don’t leave your meats and veggies to chance. Instead, follow these inspired recipes from TV chef/James Beard award-winner Steve Raichlen (who, as we noted yesterday, leads an annual Barbecue University every year). Your new favorite pitmaster is tweaking the classics here: searing meat right on the coals, blow-torching veal chops, cooking up salmon steaks on a shovel over a fire … or, for booze fans, somehow “grilling” sangria and piña coladas. — Kirk Miller, Managing Editor/Nation Editor

THE BEST THING WE DRANK THIS WEEK

Yes, it was just Cinco de Mayo last weekend, but we have a tequila pick better suited for Mother’s Day (which, reminder, is Sunday). Codigo 1530 Rosa is a blanco tequila rested for one month in uncharred Napa Cabernet French White Oak barrels (fun fact: the co-founder was the former CEO of Crocs). The pink-hued agave features a light floral finish, making it great for brunch cocktails. Try one with mom!

Mary Claire
1.5 oz Código 1530 Rosa Tequila
1 oz Rosé Prosecco
1 oz Pineapple Juice
.5 oz Hibiscus & Orange Simple Syrup

In a shaker filled with ice, add tequila, pineapple juice and hibiscus and orange simple syrup. Shake and strain into a Champagne flute. Top with Rosé Prosecco.
