In an Oct. 19 evening sale, Sotheby’s New York will be hosting an entire auction dedicated to the wines of a single seller: Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion, a famed winery in Bordeaux, France. Known to U.S. wine-lovers simply as “The Mish,” the wines are enjoyed especially for their perfumed, rich, complex, and refined taste. There will be 270 lots in the auction, with vintages ranging from 1916 to 2012. The wines are also well-known among collectors for their rarity: In looking at past sales of The Mish from Sotheby’s, a ’55 vintage lot went for $14,700 and an ’89 vintage lot sold for $17,150.
