Getting Healthy This Year? Train for This Scotch-Fueled Marathon.

You can have your healthy, bland Dry January.

We’ll be getting in shape for a Scotch-fueled marathon in the fall.

Cheers to the Dramathon, a distance race in Scotland that runs from the Glenfarclas to the Glenfiddich distillery, taking place in October. The route also passes by several other Speyside whisky institutions.

The Dramathon was created by Jon Dunderdale and Ian King, runners and single malt enthusiasts who “aim to create an event which is well-put together and professionally organised, but that retains a sense of humour, a chilled-out atmosphere, is inclusive, and great value for money.”

The good news is you don’t have to run a full marathon, known here as a “full dram.” You can do half, relay or a 10km “wee dram.” And whatever the race, your registration fee covers first aid, feed stations and samples of single malts at the end of the race — based on the sponsors, this includes The Balvenie, Tamdhu, Ballindalloch and many more.

The Dramathon takes place on October 19th, with registration fees (going on now) ranging from $40 to $160, depending on the race.

And yes, it’s a real race: Last year’s winner (Alan Semple) completed the marathon in 2:49:48.
