How do you celebrate a 10-year anniversary?
With dinner.
In the freakin’ sky.
Naturally, the Belgian-based Dinner in the Sky is celebrating their tenth year of hoisting well-to-do guests 160+ feet into the air via crane to enjoy an “alfresco” meal by coming home.
Their 10-year celebration, taking place June 1-5 in Brussels, will feature 10 Michelin-starred chefs simultaneously cooking a five-course meal for 220 people on 10 different platforms. The diners will be raised up by ten Dufour cranes into the Brussels sky “like candles on a gigantic birthday cake” and in full view of the Atomium, says the company’s press release.
The original idea for DITS, the company claims, was to highlight Michelin-starred Belgian gastronomy “in the most surreal possible way.” Since their launch in 2006, they’ve hosted dinners in 55 different countries and a number of exotic areas, including The Strip in Las Vegas, Sydney Bay, the Champ de Mars in Paris, Monaco’s marina (for Prince Albert), the City of the Gods in Teotihuacan and the medina in Marrakech.
