The last of this class is the best of show. The final piece in Mercedes-Benz’s 2018 E-Class family of automobiles—which recently received a major design overhaul—is a taut and tech-laden four-seater Cabriolet.
Once the weather warms up, that soft-top will come down in a hurry—just 20 seconds, when traveling at up to 30 mph. And the convertible top will be available in four colors: dark brown, dark blue, red, or black.
Packing a 3.0-liter V6 bi-turbo engine, the E-class convertible also offers 4Matic all-wheel drive as an option for the first time. Other highlights include a front-positioned diamond grille, LED headlamps, and tail-lamps that mimic the glow of a jet engine’s afterburners.
For the more tech-savvy customers, the company is offering a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster add-on in the Cabriolet—which appears to be floating in midair in the center of the dashboard. Also, for those drivers who may find themselves navigating around snowbanks for months at a time, the car comes complete with a neck-level heating system that functions like an invisible scarf.
