A Treehouse Hotel Grows in Panama

By Kirk Miller

Climbing a tree never looked so glorious.

Just announced, Biku is a treehouse retreat currently being developed in the Bocas del Toro archipelago off of Panama’s Caribbean coast, with help from an Ace Hotel vet.

Only accessible by boat, the cocoa-pod shaped treehouses will be built in the rainforest using locally sourced materials. The aerial huts will feature outdoor showers, shaded balconies and staircases that spiral around the tree trunks, with hanging walkways between units.

Out of the houses, the retreat promises snorkeling and other water sports, as well as “chocolate making activities.” (Big cocoa region.)

Crowdfunding for Biku launches in spring 2018. If you can’t wait for it to open, check out our extensive coverage of treehouses around the world here.
