“For those who know how to read, I have painted my autobiography.”
Words of one Pablo Picasso. And now, thanks to Pakstain-based artist Omar Aqil, that autobiography has gotten an extra chapter.
Using computer design programs like Photoshop and Illustrator, Aqil recreated six Picasso paintings (Seated Woman, Visage, Monument to the Spaniard, Composition, Black Figure and Buste de femme dans un fauteuil) as 3D pieces with defined edges and visible depth levels.
According to Aqil, his MIMIC project is a “visual experiment” that uses “visual mimicry” to show “how the skill responds when it come across the complexity of someone’s thought and how the meanings of the shapes and forms have been changed and create new physical qualities.”
