Dinner Plan: WhiskyX

From the driving, to the parking, to the not knowing where to drive or park, dinner in L.A. is harder than it should be. That’s why we created Dinner Plan — your itinerary to a damn good time.

This week, we head to the Westside for the year’s best whiskey festival.

Get Down: WhiskyX
Santa Monica

Festival season is now. And while tons are descending on Coachella, we’re staying close to home and away from the crowds with WhiskyX, a food-and-booze festival with one helluva house band: local roots rock merchants Dawes. If you’re unfamiliar with Dawes, they’re a contemporary rock band with influences that range from Creedence to Dylan. It all goes down at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica on April 20th, and with 60+ whiskeys on hand to taste, you’ll get a heavy buzz going. Blot it out with one of the many food trucks that’ll be on site, from the Taco Cartel to Chinese Laundry.

Have a Drink: The Lincoln

Venice

With that much brown liquor in your belly, you may have sprouted a few wild hairs. To straighten them out, grab a Lyft and head to the Lincoln in Venice. Their delicious drinks will keep you going without weighing you down, and they have a great DJ on the weekends. It’s always a party here.

Late Night Snack: Nighthawks

Venice

Don’t go home (or to bed) without relining your stomach with something greasy and full of protein. It may not avert a hangover, but it’ll surely lessen the blow. Nighthawk Diner is not far from the Lincoln and serves a wild assortment of plates that include crab toasts, fried chickens on top of potato pancakes and milk sweetened with bourbon. All will lead to sweeter dreams.
