Brandon Baltzley serves all of his food with a side of intrigue.

He’s a chef journalists love to write about.

A mercurial talent with more than a few bones in his walk-in cooler.

An author who once wrote about his culinary degradations, then went on to open up TMIP on a farm in Michigan City, Indiana —  an exciting and novel concept that took hold of the foodie blogosphere but closed faster than it opened.

He’s also the chef behind your first memorable meal of 2016.

Because he’s back with Crux: a collaborative, nomadic Midwestern dinner series coming to Chicago in January.

For his return to the Windy City, Baltzley’s hooking up with Sauced Night Market for three dinners at Wicker Park’s Locallective.

Five courses. Some snacks. A cocktail hour.

The theme: Winter in the Rust Belt. Says Baltzley: “Think of what people ate in the industrial area of Gary, Indiana back in the day, then refine it.”

The personnel: a core group of touring chefs, with special guests Patrick Sheerin (Trencherman), Pat Niebling (Three Floyds) and Kevin McMullen (of the newly opened Band of Bohemia) joining on the third and final night.

Full disclosure: that’s the night you want.

It all goes down January 15-17th. Secure your seats here.
