Rooftop Cinema Club Is Here To Save You From Boring Date Nights

By The Editors

An important summer PSA: Rooftop Cinema Club is coming to town, and tickets are on sale at this very moment. The promise: Better films and sound. Better seating. Better cocktails. And it’s all on a splendid Downtown rooftop. Consider it Chicago’s first great sky-high movie club. Best make a date night of it. Here’s your plan.

Step One: The Fit
Memorial Day has come and gone, and what do we do with the unofficial start of summer? We break out the summer whites. Or, at Billy Reid, the summer off-whites. We prefer off-white because it’s just as crisp as sterling white, but decidedly less precious and easier to pull off. Anchor your outfit down with a pair of Ric Lace Ups, and should you dare to go monotone (you should), compliment ‘em with the Ashland 5-pocket pant and Pensacola Polo.

Step Two: The Rooftop Dinner
It’s GreenRiver’s first official summer, which means being able to finally enjoy the restaurant’s 18th-floor wraparound terrace in all of its panoramic glory. There’s a separate outdoor bar area for drinkers, but you’ll wanna ask for a seat outside so you can relax with a refreshing highball and dig into some Red Snapper crudo and other seasonal offerings from chef Aaron Lirette. No need to worry about making it to your movie on time — it’s only a five minute walk away.

Step Three: The Rooftop Movie
From one rooftop to another, because that’s how we do. The outdoor movie party Chicago deserves, the Rooftop Cinema Club is setting down — or rather, up — on the terrace of the DoubleTree by Hilton. With movies showing four times a week, here’s what to expect: comfy deck chairs, wireless headphones and concessions and cocktails by the DoubleTree. In other words: this is not your sardined Movies in the Park moviegoing experience. The schedule runs the gamut, too, with everything from The Goonies to Blade Runner.

$25 gets you a drink plus unlimited popcorn. It all kicks off June 15th with The Breakfast Club. Check out the full lineup here.
