Summer is over.

Chicago’s boats, like Jesse Jackson Jr., won’t be around for a while.

But don’t fret — keep your lake legs year-round at the WMS Boathouse at Clark Park, now offering a full dossier of winter programming on-site.

Designed by 2013 Smithsonian National Design winner Jeanne Gang and her Studio Gang, Clark Park’s facade is designed to evoke the movement of a rower’s stroke.

In short: it’s beautiful.

Inside: fitness programs by the Chicago Rowing Foundation (like Learn to Row and Learn to Erg), plus full body workouts that’ll test your cardiovascular rhythm and mental concentration.

Or reserve a spot in their state-of-the-art indoor rowing tank, the only one of its kind in the world, and the closest you’ll get to the real thing without being in the water.

All this leads back to summer, when you can rent kayaks for leisurely paddling, or if you’re ready, an eight-person shell to slice through the river with a coxswain.

At this rate, you’ll be out there in no time.
