If the new Callaway Z06 AeroWagen rushed passed you at totally reachable illegal speeds, you’d be left scratching your head as to what, exactly, just broke your neck and likely ran you off the road. Because it’s one part ferocious beast, and one part … station wagon. On paper, that sounds cringeworthy, but in motion, she’s a dream.
Named for Reeves Callaway — a race-car driver who cut his teeth at the legendary instructor Bob Bondurant’s racing school in Lime Rock, Connecticut — Callaway Cars has been resto-modding Chevys since 1977. Today, they also supply badass kits to Porsches, Audis and Beemers.
The AeroWagen is packing Callaway’s signature SC757 package, with a Eaton supercharger working hand-in-hand with a Corvette Z06’s 6.2-liter V-8. A 2,300cc supercharger should fully whet the whistle of any Vette-holic, as it results in specs like 757 ponies, 777 lb-ft of torque and an acceleration rate of 0-60 in just 2.8 seconds. It’s a badass in soccer dad clothing for sure.
Like most things easy on the eyes, this ride is not easy on the wallet: one of these steeds will run you well into six-figure territory. Brass tacks, the AeroWagen package will run you $14,900 with factory-matching paint, plus $18,495 for the SC757 package. That’s on top of the $112,935 for your standard Callaway Z06 AeroWagen.
