Even though Team Brooklands Special were the victors in this year’s Red Bull Soapbox Race, which took place at London’s Alexandria Palace over the weekend, there was another star of the show.

The annual event apparently seemed like a perfect chance for Aston Martin engineerstry and replicate their Le Mans success with a miniature model of the winning V-8 Vantage GTE.

Even though it came in second (still respectable), Aston Martin’s gravity-powered replica racer was considered a big enough deal that Le Mans winners Darren Turner and Jonny Adam were on hand to give it and driver Alex Summers a big push down the hill.

“There is no way in the world I would get into one but I’m very happy to wave the brave pilot on his merry way,” Turner said beforehand. “I hope Alex manages to last for more than 24 seconds and, most importantly, makes it to the bottom in one piece.”

Make it to the bottom he did although, as you can see in this video, it wasn’t bloody easy.
