On a late September day in 1955, actor Alec Guinness (Obi-Wan Kebobi) noticed James Dean’s Porsche 550 Spyder had a “sinister” appearance while admiring the car outside a restaurant. He reportedly told Dean: “If you get in that car, you will be found dead in it by this time next week.”

Seven days later, Dean’s “Little Bastard” lived up to its name, and killed him. The car went on to injure at least three other men who worked on it and disappeared — probably a good thing. And while Dean’s 550 Spyder remains missing, we found some affordable substitutes to take its place.

Starting around $43,500, the Seduction Motorsports 550 Spyders are a line of turnkey replica models that come locked, loaded and ready to have an engine dropped under the hood. Crafted from superior materials and parts — including a fiberglass body, steel frame, custom suspension and shocks as well as period-correct wheels — the Seduction builds look legit.

“The reason for our meticulous approach is simple,” owner Daniel Verwers told Robb Report. “I don’t want you calling me 10 times a year to replace things, so I use great parts to begin with.”
