Concept rides are a dime a dozen. Many never go to production, most for good reason.

Now the Velar concept, sitting dormant for nearly 50 years in all of its boxy glory, that was a travesty. Thankfully, Range Rover agrees.

Because the new and improved Range Rover Velar is coming to a lot near you. It’s true, the manufacturer announced last month that the Velar will become the newest member of the family.

In an effort to plug the gap between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport, the Velar will bring all the toughness, but with a serious shot of nostalgic heat. It should be noted that the modern make bares little resemblance to the original, but still offers a smoother design than we’re normally use to seeing in a Range Rover.

“The Range Rover Velar brings a new dimension of glamour, modernity and elegance to the brand,” says Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Chief Design Officer. “It changes everything.”

We concur. Change done gon’ come.
