According to Automotive News, Porsche is likely to start playing catch-up with a slate of other electrified luxury cars by offering a plug-in hybrid version of the 911 by 2023.

The plug-in model, which will be a variant of the redesigned 911 the automaker has planned for 2019, should get more power and range (43 miles of all-electric range) than current hybrids thanks to a “new generation of batteries,” Porsche CEO Oliver Blume told Automotive News.

“It will be very important for the 911 to have a plug-in hybrid,” Blume added. “[It’s} my opinion that we will go for it.”

Unfortunately, that’s really all we have to go on right now with regard to the hybrid 911. That said, if you’re interested in another electric Porsche — the forthcoming Mission E — we suggest you take a gander at the video below.
