2019 will be the year of the ‘Vette.

Our basis for the prediction? The new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. Billed by Chevy as the “fastest, most powerful production Corvette ever,” the 755-HP ZR1 has a supercharged 6.2-liter engine capable of churning out 715 lb-ft of torque and a top speed of 210 MPH.

So it can handle all that muscle, the engine’s massive supercharger juts up through the top of the hood, giving the ZR1 a throwback look that pairs well with burnt rubber.

Available with either a seven-speed manual or eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission (the first time an automatic transmission has been offered in a ZR1 model), Chevy is giving customers the option to outfit the pavement roaster with an aerodynamic “High Wing” package that’ll offer an estimated 950 pounds of downforce at speed.

It’s more costly, sure, but getting the car without the upgrade package — which also includes a front splitter, Michelin tires and custom chassis tuning — just seems wrong.

“I’ve never driven a Corvette like this before, and nobody else has because there’s never been one like this before,” said Chevy product development EVP Mark Reuss. “Its unprecedented performance puts all other global supercars on notice that the ZR1 is back.”

Chevy hasn’t offered much in the way of pricing on the car or the performance package, but we do know sales of the 2019 ZR1 will commence in the spring of 2018.

So regardless of the weather, it’s gonna be a long winter.
