Nobody ever accuse Porsche of modesty.

And rightfully so.

So when the 2017 911 Carrera GTS lineup was announced this morning, we knew we could count on one thing: power, power and more power. And they delivered.

Unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show, the rides have been amped up with twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engines that’ll churn out 30 more ponies than the Carrera S, for a total of 450 horsepower. The torque also gets an uptick to 37 lb-ft, making for an alleged 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 193 MPH.

But most notably for Porschephiles is the black satin roof bar, as opposed to the stainless look on other 911 Targas. Additional stylistic items include a black trim strip between the tail lamps on rear-drive models and a light strip in that same place on the all-wheel-drive versions, plus unique exterior mirrors and 20-inch black alloy wheels. The collection pushes the 911 Carrera GTS offerings to five available configurations, and the total 911 variants up to a healthy 19 makes.

The newbies will begin ship in March go for just a shave under $140k. Not surprising for the vehicular equivalent to saying, “Cancel my PMs, Denise, I’m leaving early for the weekend.”
