Who are the owners? Asking for a not-at-all-litigious friend.

Celebrating five decades of top-notch craftsmanship is a must for any automaker. Doing so by producing just five hypercars? Now there’s a move that’s distinctly Mercedes.

While the high performance AMG division is set to reveal a new hypercar at this year’s Frankfurt Auto Show, they’re having some fun along the way with a special edition GT3 that’s limited to only five cars.

That’s what we call collector item status.

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 50 is inspired by the original AMG GT3 racer but accented with a custom paint job, “50 Years AMG” logos, a “50 Years of Driving Performance” emblazoned on the seat harnesses and an “Edition 50 1 of 5” emblem on the dash — much like one you’d find on a fine art piece.

To boot, the five owners will ride away into the sunset donning a special IWC timepiece crafted especially for the ride.

Delivery will be set at AMG in Affalterbach, Germany. And should these handful of lucky cowboys desire, they’ll be able to take the steed for a spin in a track driving coaching program.

Talk about coming out of the gates hot.
