If you’ve ever felt the need—the need for speed—now you can act on your Days of Thunder-esque urges without ever having to plunk down a single cent for a vintage Shelby Cobra or Jaguar F-Type. (And yes, we’re aware that we just mixed two Tom Cruise movies into one, but  it’s easy to get disoriented when speed’s involved.)

Be the Maverick to your buddy’s Goose with England’s Classic Race Simulators, a company that produces Grand Prix–ready race car simulator contraptions (they look like the car on the outside, but obviously don’t have any wheels). Rev your fake engines in car types such as the Classic Lotus 49 or a Ferrari, and tackle the world’s toughest courses, all with headphones on (to simulate the purr of your engines) and a trio of computer screens in front of you (to watch the simulated race unfold).

The company travels around and sets up competitions for everything from corporate team-building exercises to friendly throw-downs. (They have a running list of competitor times on their website, so that everybody knows who’s boss.) Also, CRS tells RealClearLife that they can build you a bespoke model to take home with you. Hell, if you wanted to, you could buy an entire team of cars. (Each bespoke model runs about $13,345 apiece.)
