If you’re looking to buy a car, and wanna spend your hard-earned greenbacks on America, the Jeep Wrangler is your best bet. That’s at least according to Cars.com.
The online marketplace’s annual American-Made Index (AMI) — which now takes into account assembly location, domestic parts content, country of engine origin and country of transmission origin — is out for 2017, and it looks like SUVs are on the up with the Jeep Cherokee following close behind the Wrangler in second place.
According to the evaluators, the reason why SUVs walked away with the top two spots is because their domestic-parts content numbers were among the highest in this year’s AMI (average of 72% between the two) and almost all engines and transmissions were from the U.S.
