Massive firestorms, big-ass hurricanes and cows waltzing through Brooklyn are the new norm.

And then get innovative, like GM has done with their newest concept. The American carmaker just released news of its Surus, an autonomous truck capable of delivering supplies and relief to those stranded in disaster areas.
The fuel-cell powered flatbed works a la remote GPS and has a range of 400 miles per charge. Because it’s GPS-guided, it doesn’t really need a cab, allowing for more cargo space. It’s already been pitched to the military for use in hostile situations, but one could see this replacing short distance, local deliveries like those lorries in Logan. It’s also virtually silent — hence its military appeal — which will reduce noise pollution in addition to air pollution.
They say necessity is the mother of invention. Too bad it isn’t the mother of prevention, otherwise we wouldn’t be in this mess.
