If the devil is truly in the details, you might as well call Aston Martin’s retooled Vanquish Lucifer incarnate.
To improve upon the already outstanding specs that its standard Vanquish model offers, Aston Martin made small changes to the supercar’s engine, body and chassis that lowered the top-of-the line model’s 0-62 MPH time from 3.6 seconds all the way down to … 3.5 seconds.
For those keeping score at home, that’s a reduction of 0.1 seconds. Like we said … details.
To achieve that improvement, Aston Martin tweaked the intake system of the car’s naturally aspirated V12 to improve airflow at high speeds and added 26 HP to bring the S up to 580 HP.
Aston Martin didn’t stop there, and also calibrated the GT’s eight-speed transmission to provide faster gearshifts, improved its aerodynamics by installing carbon fiber bodywork throughout and reengineered the suspension to give it a sportier feel.
Unfortunately, those improvements didn’t boost the S to top the original Vanquish’s 201 MPH top speed, but, unless you’re this guy, that really shouldn’t be an issue.
Available as either a coupe or convertible, deliveries of the the Vanquish S are set to begin in April 2017 and both models will be priced at $294,950 and not a penny more.
