This Stud Finder Has X-Ray Vision, Which Is Fun

As your office cat lady knows, studs are hard to find.

You’ve likely had the same realization, albeit about a different kind of stud, while trying to hang a picture or mount a television on the wall of your home.

Fortunately, the WalabotDIY from 3D-imaging sensor company Vayyar is here to assist at least one of you with all your stud-finding needs.

Using 3D imaging and your phone, the WalabotDIY allows you to see studs — as well as wires, pipes, plastic, rodents and forgotten treasure — up to four inches inside concrete or drywall. After being attached to your Android, the WalabotDIY pulls power from the phone’s micro USB port and displays the results of what it detects via an accompanying app.

While the device’s $200 price tag may seem a bit high, it’s a small price to pay for ensuring your flatscreen doesn’t fall off the wall and flatten your pet, infant, significant other or ego.
