To make it easy for those of us who receive to give a little back over the holidays, a host of online retailers are encouraging customers to use their delivery boxes to help Goodwill.

The Givebackbox program is so effortless it reminds us of a famous holiday tune  we’ll paraphrase here to describe it:

Step 1: Open your box. (Any box from participating retailrs — including Amazon, REI and Overstock — will do.)

Step 2: Put some stuff in your box. (Clothing, accessories and household goods are preferred.)

Step 3: Send off your box. (UPS or USPS will provide free shipping to the nearest Goodwill, with an online pickup option available.)

And that’s the way you do it.
