Consider the Fire Truck Ski Lodge

Move over, Vanagon. There's a New Sheriff in Town.

Consider the Fire Truck Ski Lodge

Consider the Fire Truck Ski Lodge

By Evan Bleier

Once pro snowboarder Austin Smith sets his mind to something, that something typically gets done.

It’s a trait pertains to snowboard-related activities and, apparently, fire truck-related ones, too.

After his brother bought it on eBay and then basically left it in a driveway to rot, Smith took possession of a 1953 GMC fire truck and set about converting it into a massive mobile home. He started by fitting the interior with wood floors, a full kitchenette with cabinets, a bed and a couch. Then he topped the GMC off with electricity, plumbing, solar panels and a wood stove.

He’s currently parked in the Mount Bachelor lot for the winter — after hitting speeds of up to 30 MPH on the way there — and is already thinking about heading to the beach for the summer.

If the bonfire gets unruly, well, you know who to call.
