Turns out you can buy happiness. And never do any chore again.

In a recent study released by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), people who outsourced chores like cleaning, shopping and cooking had less stress and increased well-being.

The study, “Buying Time Promotes Happiness,” surveyed about 6300 people across four countries. Conclusion: Those who hired out people to perform disliked tasks had “greater life satisfaction” than those who didn’t — no matter what income level.

Furthermore, an experiment involving Canadians who were given money to spend on either timesaving purchases or material goods showed that the time purchases reduced stress and increased well-being. So, um, don’t buy things, buy experiences.

But seriously, every one of those apps that promises to make your life a little bit easier is actually telling the truth. So get a cleaning service. Order dinner from Seamless. Buy all the alcohol from Drizly. Send the laundry out.

It’s for your own good.
