The Jeep is the cowboy of automobiles.

And this is the cowboy of Jeep rides: the Easter Jeep Safari through Moab, taking registrants right this minute.

Run by pro jeepsters (sadly not the T-Rex kind), the Safari is a series of trail rides and riding challenges across Moab, that rocky slice of backcountry in southeastern Utah near the La Sal Mountains and Arches National Park.

The expedition is pure off-road adventure through expanses of jagged rock, climbs and descents, rutted roads, mud and sand.

Plus some of the most breathtaking mountain/desert vistas you’ll ever witness.

Bring a group; this is a time to bond and — more importantly — to assist. See one of this year’s new trails: “Hells Revenge: Escalator to Hell,” a steep, multi-tiered climb up a narrowing mountain chute.

“Missing the line can result in a nasty series of rolls all the way to the bottom,” the organizers warn.

In other words: bring a spotter.
