Sulfur Surfer

Burning lake of fire? Here’s your ticket.

  • 12 September 2014

Last week, a video made the rounds.

Dude takes a GoPro to the edge of a South Pacific volcano.

“Window into hell,” he says.

If you haven’t seen the video yet, you really should.

Because that dude is San Francisco native Sam Cossman.

And next time, Sam wants to take you with him.

Your destination: a roiling caldera called Marum on a small island in the nation of Vanuatu.

Consider Sam your Virgil, young Dante.

Worth noting: this is not a sightseeing trip in the Serengeti.

This is vicious climbing, sparse living and sheer drops into more and more inhospitable climes where the slightest false move can truncate one’s life dramatically.

Undaunted? Set aside a new Camaro’s worth of greenbacks and throw your name in Xola’s hat. They’ll be in touch.

Because for some men, living dangerously is just called living.
