Weekend Planner: September 23-25

Beer for charity, oysters, classic motorcycles and more

September 23, 2016 9:00 am

Listen, you don’t have to threaten us a with a good time.

Tell us there’s a ’60s-inspired motorcycle parade for charity in the offing and we’ll sign up faster than a buttered bullet.

But if motorcycles aren’t your bag, we’ve got plenty of other occasions worth checking out —including a brewery-sponsored 50-mile cycling affair, live music and something called the Whiskey Wars.

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride
Even if you’re not a rider, this is a sartorial sight to see. Vintage and classic motos unite for this ride of epic proportions that raises awareness and funds for prostate cancer.

Museum Day Live!
One day a year, the Smithsonian doles out free passes to all their affiliate museums. That day is tomorrow, and there are close to 20 museums in New York City participating.

Harvest in the Square
Union Square’s best chefs and sommeliers have been gathering here for over two decades to celebrate top-notch signature dishes from over 40 vendors, with all the local wine and microbrews your palate desires to wash it down.

Spamilton
Spoof master Gerard Alessandrini takes on Broadway over-the-top hit because if you can’t beat ‘em, meme ‘em. Also we hear it’s rather easier to get tickets to this version.

Global Citizen Festival
The do-good Central Park celebrates its fifth year with an all star line-up including Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar and Selena Gomez. And if you don’t need to be VIP, it’s free.

Brooklyn Pour
The Village Voice hosts its sixth annual craft beer fest in Brooklyn. We’re talking access to 65 breweries all in one lovely place, and proceeds go to benefit the Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue.

Bike to Beer
The third annual cycling event is back to raise awareness and moola for Eat Local NY’s Local Food for All Project. It’s a 55-mile ride starting and ending at Captain Lawrence Brewing Company in Elmsford. Exercise, bocce, beer. Sold.

Oyster Week
Shuck ‘em, cheers ‘em, slurp ‘em. An oyster extravaganza with exotic picks from all over the world.

Rockapella
An A+ a cappella group delivers hits by the Beatles, Elvis, the Beach Boys, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson and more.

Whiskey Wars!
Venture out to the Navy Yard for a spirit-laden history lesson. Whiskey Wars!, the tour, will inform you on a time when NYC was producing 25% of the country’s sauce. And yes, you’ll be sipping on some fine moonshine while you get learn-ed.
