But thanks to Tavour, a just-launched craft beer delivery service in NYC, rarefied ales and lagers from all across the nation will now come right to your door.
Seattle-based Tavour got its start three years ago, after the founders decided they’d had it trying to find new and interesting beers in their market. The “cellaring” service lets beer aficionados assemble a personalized collection of rare craft beers, thus endowing them with a more interesting selection than they can get at even their best local joint.
But don’t call it a beer of the month club. Here’s how it works:
Sign up for Tavour and you’ll receive an email about a new beer making waves in the craft community approximately once a day. If a beer tickles your fancy, simply reply to the email telling them how many you would like. E.g., “I want 6.” They’ll then stick six bottles in your personal locker, as it were.
After 30 days of email suggestions, all the selects you thumbs-upped over the last month are shipped via delivery company Parcel. Daytime and evening deliveries are available to ensure those without doormen still have a convenient delivery option at their disposal.
But what if there’s a protest in Midtown (forever) and I don’t make it home for my delivery?
Lucky for you: Parcel sends out an immediate text message letting you update your delivery address, delivery window or delivery instructions in time for a second attempt.
There’s also an app for simple perusing and ordering. And Tavour will only ever deliver the beer that you want. Plus, you’ll be supporting small, independent breweries who, let’s be honest, make the best brew out there.
Basically, collecting fresh, specially curated suds from the nation over has never been easier.
