Punky Booster

Punk was always akin to art at CBGB — like, where else could you rollick to Debbie Harry while waxing philosophic on the latest compositions, e.g., “how sublime, the dalliance of urinal water on this bathroom graffiti.”

Relive that road to ruin, and this time with gratis vino, at “I Remember You”, a collection of never-before-seen photographs of legendary rocker Joey Ramone, opening this Thursday at John Varvatos (formerly known as, yes, CBGB).

Hosted by Rock Paper Photo, with photos curated by Ramone’s close friend Rachel Felder (a former Director of A&R for Columbia Records), the exhibit features candid pics of Ramone in all manner of poses, from lounging by the Sunset Marquis pool in Hollywood to shooting a video for the band on St. Mark’s place in 1981.

Thursday’s opening party, attended by Varvatos himself, includes complimentary drinks. It’s invite-only, but a limited number of spaces have been set aside for InsideHook readers: email RSVP@gckpartners.com to get in. The first ten will also get a $100 gift card to Rock Paper’s site.

Can’t do Thursday? You’ll be placed on an invite list for Rock Paper’s series of events happening all summer.

Though this one’s your chance to say you caught The Ramones at CBGB.
