Bust a Movie

June 1, 2012 9:00 am

Oh for the bygone days of midnight movies and flicks like The Rocky Horror Picture Show — a heady time, back when men were men, except when they were Dr. Frank-N-Furter.

Relive those cult film days of yesteryear at the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s first-ever Midnight Movie series, starting tonight.

Running every Friday through August 31st at the modern and modish Elinor Bunin Film Center, the series includes B-movie classics and ’70s staples, including:

    • June 15th — Logan’s Run, in which residents of a 23rd-century city are mandated to die at age 30
    • July 6th – Lost Highway, David Lynch’s cryptic psychological thriller

Because what’s a movie without dinner, the Film Center also houses a lounge cafe by former ‘inoteca chef/owner Jason Denton, which plates up specialties like milk-braised pork belly plus wine varietals from California to Catalonia.

Concessions include all the regular treats, plus gourmet goodies like parmesan truffle popcorn and house-made pretzels.

And while the Midnight Movie series doesn’t include Rocky Horror, you should still be quivering in anticipation.
