An American Record Store Just Got Permission to Sell Weed. Legally.

It's about time.

As the dreadlocked reggae bard once sang: “One good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain.”

You know what else makes you feel no pain (or at least makes it subside considerably)? Marijuana.

Fitting, then, that Amoeba Music — a wax mecca for anyone who knows anything about music — just took that line and ran with it to the courthouse, where they secured a license to dispense cannabis to anyone with a medical card.

The frontier days of America’s legal cannabis industry have been dominated by music giants thus far: Snoop Dogg, Willie Nelson and the Marley family have all entered the ring. Amoeba must have figured, why not us?

As of now, cannabis products will only be sold at its Berkeley location. Those of us in Los Angeles and San Francisco will have to keep our eyes peeled for smoke signals at our stores until further notice.

One thing’s for sure: those Saturday morning shopping sprees will be much easier with one less stop on the roster.
