This Thing Can Transport a Fully Grown Man 37 Miles on One Charge

But WTF is it?

Because the interwebs are crammed full of crazy things, and sometimes the purpose of those things is not immediately discernible, we present WTF Is It?

WTF is it?
Motochimp, a compact electric motorbike that charges in an hour and has a 37-mile range.

So what’s it do?
Powered by a lithium-ion battery that sends juice to its 350-watt rear hub motor, the sturdy bike can transport riders across an urban landscape at speeds up to 19 MPH.

Who makes it?
Vanda Electrics, the Singaporean firm that also designed the 1,500-HP Dendrobium e-supercar.

Is it in any way useful?
The aluminum alloy bike certainly isn’t going to win any beauty contests, but its ability to quickly charge using a regular AC plug sounds pretty appealing. The zero-emission bike also uses a contactless ignition lock that only responds to its owner’s digital key, so theft is a non-issue.

That’s all well and good, but will I fit on it?
It’ll be tight, but look at is as an extra way to motivate yourself to stick to your gym schedule.

Can I buy one?
The $2,000 bike is launching in Japan but will expand to other markets. Stay in the loop here.

Should I buy one?
If you feel that it’s not only hip to be square but also hip to be on a square e-bike, yes, by all means.

May I see Vanda’s electric supercar before making my decision?
