Unlike the "Subway Diet," the "Walmart Diet" has nothing to do with switching to a daily menu of food exclusively bought from said store.
The secret to the 300+ lbs. one Arizona man just lost, rather, was a result of walking to and from the retail giant every time he wanted to eat.
After tipping the scales at 600 pounds and answering to the name “Fat Pat,” Arizona man Pasquale Brocco has changed his nickname to “Possible” after dropping more than half his body weight over the course of three years by changing his diet and adding one-mile walks to Walmart into his daily routine.
The 31-year-old (who used to consume a half-gallon of whole milk, a box of cereal, four doughnuts, 100 chicken nuggets and a foot-long meatball parm on a a daily basis) implemented the new routine after his doctor warned that his combination of his weight, high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol could be deadly.
Realizing the seriousness of the situation, Brocco took a photo of himself, committed himself to the daily walks and altered his diet to include lean meat, vegetables and healthy grains.
“You walk to Walmart three times a day, and you end up walking six miles,” he told ABC News. “It’s amazing because I never walked six miles in my life, and I was doing it every day.”
When the diet began to show results, Brocco was able to start going to the gym to walk on the treadmill and even using weights. Now, after having surgery to remove 30 pounds of excess skin from his body, Brocco is bodybuilding and using his Instagram account to inspire others.
"Basically I was told I was on my deathbed," Brocco told FOX. “I figure if I came from where I was to this — totally morbidly obese to a professional athlete — it'll be just an amazing story for everyone to get more motivated."
