Volvo’s New Backseat Is a Freaking Corner Office on Wheels

And no one ever called ‘Shotgun’ again

First-class airplane cabins as we know them were introduced around 1939.

Why it’s taken until now to create their road-travel equivalent is anyone’s guess.

But we can confirm they’re fast en route, thanks to Volvo.

Recently rescued by Chinese billionaire Li Shufu’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., the Swedish icon just unveiled elevated iterations of its S90 sedan, including the high rollin’ S90 Excellence.

If his intention is to reinvigorate the brand, Li’s got the world’s attention.

To appeal to the comfort and convenience needs of the affluent, chauffeur-driven executive on the go, the S90 Excellence has removed the front passenger seat to make room for kicking off your brogues and stretching out.

The fancy make’s immaculate backseat has a built-in refrigerator capable of holding two bottles of bubbly, handmade crystal Orrefors glassware, a panoramic roof, a heated and cooled cup holder, and an entertainment and working console. And to protect all precious cargo in tow, new safety features include the rear first side airbags, driver assistance for avoiding collision and something called “Large Animal Protection” that leverages radar and cameras for superior detection of things that go bump in the night.

The S90 Excellence is set to go into production next year. And while the price has yet to be released, we can’t imagine the sticker will induce as much shock as the make itself.
