Germany is known for making sturdy steel blades that are ideal for hacking, chopping and dicing. Like Japanese knives, which are known for more precise work, these are lethal works of art and you should have at least one in your kitchen.
Keep it classy and sharp by displaying it on a Messerast (German for “fair catch”), a 40cm long branch from an actual tree that’s got magnets embedded in it. These badboys can hold up to four blades and won’t dull them.
They’re designed in Germany by Buchholz Berlin, a design shop that makes everything from tables and chairs to chef’s knives and cutting boards. Rustic stuff, to be sure, and the Messerasts are made to order and take about 7-10 days to ship.
It’s a twisted and sharp look.
