Travelteq: Because carry-on beats checked every time

April 22, 2016 9:00 am

Going somewhere this weekend?

Heed the best travel advice we ever received. It came, oddly enough, from an extremely well-known, much-beloved TV weatherman during an interview 20 years ago:

“No matter how long you’re away, only have a carry-on. Never check anything.”

A lot of pressure there. A single bag that organizes well, moves (and stores) easily and still catches the eye?

Indeed. The Trolley All Leather, available just this week, ticks all the boxes.

The trolley comes courtesy of Travelteq, a direct-to-consumer maker of handsome leather briefcases. Their biz model — the increasingly popular “cut out the middleman” approach — means you’re saving over 50% on an equivalent bag.

Important caveat there: that assumes the quality is equal.

It is here.

The new leather trolley fulfills all the above luggage requirements, and then some.

It features a ridiculous amount of room and organization: Four interior pockets, each sized for the appropriate valuable (toiletries, tablet, chargers, etc.). Additional outside storage for quick access to laptops and passports. Plus a clothes cover within to keep your wardrobe separated and neat.

It handles well: Besides the two sturdy (but not bulky) wheels, the trolley features both a top and side handle. At just under 10 lbs., it’s also easy to navigate without feeling brittle.

Did we mention it looks damn sharp? Did you notice the handsome, almost buttery veg-tanned Florentine Vacchetta leather, direct from a workshop in Tuscany? Did you?

Bonus: If you own other Travelteq items (like their signature line of briefcases), you can attach them with a specially designed trolley strap.

The bag is available now for $645, with free shipping and returns. A spokesperson told us that Travelteq also has additional luggage on the way.

Not that you’ll need ‘em.

Nota bene: Good week in luggage news. If want something a little heftier and can wait a few weeks for delivery, the new Parker Leather Rolling Suitcase from Moore & Giles should be up your alley. Inspired by steamer trunks of yore, the four-wheeled Parker is a little bulkier but crafted from a stunning, chocolate-y Baldwin leather.
