What to Do When Your Friend Bails on a Vacation at the Last Minute

Hello, is this Joe McGrath? We have a proposal for you.'

We’ve all got a friend like Joe McGrath No. 1.

A group of friends from the UK — said McGrath among them — recently planned a surprise adventure to Spain for their friend’s 30th birthday. Everything was set and done … and then McGrath bailed last minute.

With a non-refundable plane ticket and hotel reservation already booked under his name, the group decided not to let the slot go to waste. Instead, they took to the internet to find another Joe McGrath to take their friend’s place. An offer which came complete with a flight from Bristol to Mallorca and a stay at an all-inclusive resort.

And they found this righteous taker:

That’s the cool-as-hell Joe McGrath No. 2, who works at a radio station and was ready and eager to make the three-hour drive to Bristol to embark on a wild ride with a group of complete strangers.

But that’s when things took a dark turn. The last time Joe McGrath No. 2 was heard from was April 5th, when he called to tell his mum that he was going on vacation with a group of “good friends.” Since then, no one has seen or heard from No. 2.

Totally kidding.

Joe McGrath No. 2 is fine and well. And the whole group had a complete blast, including Joe No. 2, who said he had “a mad three days with complete strangers that I think I can call my good friends.”
