It’s a Cabin! It’s a Teardrop! Actually We’re Not Sure We Know What It Is.

And frankly, my dear, we don’t give a damn

Good things come in small packages.

As true for diamond rings as it isn’t for living spaces.

But a new wave of super-efficient microhomes — and their offspring, the micro-trailer — are out to change that.

Newest exemplar: the 150-square-foot Tiny Drop from Houston-based Tend Building, an aerodynamic teardrop-trailer-meets-tiny-house hybrid.

The designers used advanced sealing technology to wrap the lightweight mobile home in a “continuous thermal blanket” that saves power and all the energy the adaptable abode needs to operate is provided by rooftop solar panels. Carefully placed windows bathe the home’s interior with as much natural daylight as possible, and an ultra-efficient LED system provides light after nightfall.

The Tiny Drop — which is currently touring the U.S. — is the latest example of Tend Building’s commitment to “energy efficiency, affordability and ecological sensitivity in design and construction.”

“Tend Building offers homeowners and potential buyers a design-build service and product unlike any in the market,” according to the six-year-old Texas firm. “We give consumers an alternative way of experiencing life.”

If you wanna get in on the action, drop ‘em a line.
