A New Orleans Hotel Is Offering a $15K Stay for Returned Stolen Items

It's a trap!

The Roosevelt New Orleans, a Waldorf Astoria hotel just off the French Quarter, is celebrating its 125th anniversary with a peculiar “Giveback Sweepstakes.” The rules: bring back an item you’ve stolen from the hotel — be it a robe, plate or TV — and you’ll be entered to win a seven-night stay in the presidential suite, priced at a whopping $15,000.

Whether this is a harmless marketing scheme or complex sting operation … time will tell.

Strange as it is, the intiative appears to be legit. Pictured above are some early entries, including Roosevelt reviews from the 1950s.

For more information on submitting to the contest (assuming you’ve filched an item), enter here. Winners will be announced this July. And if you don’t win, pay the hotel a visit regardless. The fact that it made it to 125 years is a miracle — it had to close after Katrina, but was later purchased by the Waldorf Astoria, who recently restored it to the tune of $145M.
