Ten years ago I lived in Hawaii and owned a Ford Bronco Half Cab, and I can tell you this: you don’t get a classic Bronco because you need a reliable ride to commute to the office.

In the back, we threw an equal amount of surfboards as we did beautiful women. It was always chock-full of coolers and firewood. It was a 4×4 fun kit, and still is.

If that sounds like something worth getting after, you’re in luck. This vintage Holly Green number is coming across the lot.

A concept originally conceived by Donald Frey and Lee Iacocca — the two Ford product designers responsible for the Mustang — the Half Cab you see here is a rare-find original with a 170 cubic inch straight-6 with a 3-speed transmission.

It’s been refreshed in all the right places with new gaskets, a roll bar, a new reproduction radiator and a shiny coat of polish. But the joymaker still comes with its original owner’s manual and premiere sales invoice.

For more info, head over to the auction listing at Mecum, where the mini pickup is estimated to go between $$40 and $50K.
