Welcome to InsideHook’s Staff Picks, a compendium of cool products our editors have been digging on recently.

M. Crow Bandsaw Blade Steak Knives
I was at InsideHook Creative Director Danny Agnew’s exceptionally appointed Manhattan apartment the other night, ogling and envying everything in sight. Something that stood out? The kitchenware didn’t look … exactly like everyone else’s. The pans were pebbled copper; the dishes hand-pottered and -painted; the utensils heavy, embellished and decidedly un-IKEA. I have henceforth decided to outfit my own kitchen with one-of-a-kind pieces, starting with these burnished steak knives that look like they fell off the back of a Calistoga wagon. — Walker Loetscher, Editor in Chief

Remmy by Raen Optics
Don’t: Lose sleep over whether a rodent was/was not freaked out by his chubby shadow this morning. Do: dream of those sunny days just a short month away, and get yourself pumped with a new pair of sunny-Gs. Raen Optics offers California-crafted frames and lenses in far more fascinating colorways than what you’d find with big brands, and the round, retro Remmy will secure a decade of sundry summer compliments. — Tanner Garrity, Associate Editor

Snuz Mattress
Side/belly-sleeper here (not pictured above), and one who runs hot to boot. So when I heard Snuz’s charcoal-infused mattress would keep me cool as I slept and ergonomically supports all styles of sleeper, I had to test it. Their engineering is science-backed, with mattresses boasting seven “zones” of support for your body. After a few months, my sleep has progressively improved. Discomfort from poor posture and chronic “text neck” have been less of a problem as the months go by. Oh, and it comes in a box, because that’s what things get shipped in. — Athena Wisotsky, Senior Editor

Marine Layer Weekend Sport
Winter Olympics be damned — this SF-based brand just debuted a line of awesome retro athletic gear built for warmer weather. Circa 1976. — Kirk Miller, Managing Editor

Nomad Wireless Charging Hub
The nice thing about this QI charger? It also comes with a four-port USB charging station hidden on the bottom. This makes for an ideal all-in-one desktop or nightstand charging solution. Mind you, it is $80, and there are plenty of other wireless charger docks out there for much less. But as a way to get rid of unsightly cord tangles and be travel-friendly, well, these are the small details worth splurging on. — Michael Nolledo, Deputy Editor/Chicago Editor

Carhartt Full Swing Flame-Resistant Coat
After years of faithful service, my current workwear jacket has reached the point of no return — so it’s time to upgrade. This classic, no-frills Carhartt silhouette belies the state-of-the-art construction that makes it water-repellent, durable yet elastic, engineered for full-range movement and flame-resistant. The latter will come in handy when Elon Musk ships those 20,000 flamethrowers. — Alex Lauer, Associate Editor

THE BEST THING WE DRANK THIS WEEK

You know what you shouldn’t do? Drink Lock Stock & Barrel 18-Year Straight Rye Whiskey in an Old Fashioned. I mean, it works (let’s just say last Friday we got a bit crazy with the office bar cart), but to truly appreciate the mix of smoothness and spice here, have it on the rocks. Or neat. Easier to pick up notes of gingerbread and tobacco. This is apparently the oldest age statement given to a straight rye; aged in new charred American Oak barrels in cold weather for 18 years and bottled at 109 proof, it’s also decidedly a beverage for mature adults. Enjoy it unadorned.
