The dream is to leave it all behind and take to the open road.

But unless you want to get real scrappy and go full Easy Rider, motorhomes are the way.

They’re also the way to spend a trillion dollars on gas and smog up the very backwoods of Ma’ Nature that you’re trying to enjoy.

So it was high time that this, er, lovely, ride came along.

From German camper manufacturer, Dethleffs, comes the e.home concept. Yes, it’s an all solar-powered electric motorhome.

The moveable beast is built on the maker’s proprietary Iveco Daily Electric chassis with a 107-hp electric motor and various battery options. The largest of these power packs will give the motorhome a range of up to 174 miles with no gear and about 100 miles when you pack in the fam. Lotsa time for photo ops and pit stops.

And you don’t have to worry about setting up shop anywhere to plug in your ride any longer either. The e.home’s panels provide up to 3,000 watts of electricity to power the 228-Ah sodium-nickel-chloride battery.

The Dethleffs team went above and beyond just the electric system though. The ride also has a heating system that uses “phase change materials” to suck up the heat when the outside temperature goes above 79°. That heat is then stored and released into the cabin when the chill sets in at night.

And in touch with the future of things, the e.home is integrated with driver assist tech like the Mobileye-based front vehicle monitoring system and CampConnect app.

All in all, the only thing you’ll have to fret about in this new carefree adventure is who you’re bringing along.
