“If the steel is good,” says Michael Zieba of Zieba Knives, “then the knife is good.”
Considering he’s been able to carve himself a slice of the knife industry pie at age 30 and was named the Best New Maker at the 2016 Blade Show, we’d regard that as a sharp observation.
Knife in point: Crafted by Zieba at his Brooklyn studio as part of a collaboration project with Shinola, the MS3 Style Manhattan Pocket Knife has a 2.5-inch stainless steel blade that gives the entire piece a length of 6.75 inches when it is opened up. And, we’ll add, the overall look is not unlike a vicious, albeit tiny and little, hunting shark.
Featuring a durable custom grey titanium body with blue anodized parts, the pocket knife opens smoothly and folds down fluidly into a pocket-sized package that shows off Zieba’s style. “I don’t want to copy anybody,” he says. “It’s more important to be unique and make something special.”
Priced at $295, the MS3 is guaranteed by Zieba New York against flaws in craftsmanship.
