We like treehouses. A lot.
But we’re, alas, stuck in the city.
Across the pond, they found a solution. Thanks to a weeklong promotion on the South Bank, contest winners in London had the opportunity to experience a 35-foot safari treehouse, built overlooking the River Thames.
Winners spent a night in the pop-up property — which was also open for tours during the day— and dined on a six-course meal of crocodile, meal worms, ostrich and other fare prepared by MasterChef contestant Petrus Madutlela.
It’s a bit late in the game to make it to the urban version, but one of the companies that was part of the promotion, South Africa’s Lion Sands Game Reserve, does have a number of different treehouses available for rent.
Although the game reserve’s treehouses won’t provide the opportunity to listen in on Londoners complaining about how long it takes to queue, a night at Lion Sands will let you hear lions, hippos and kudus, oh my.
