Major League Baseball players have had their fair share of weird injuries over the years.
John Smoltz injured himself ironing a shirt, Clay Buchholz got hurt by sleeping in a strange position and Rickey Henderson famously missed a game after getting frostbite … in August.
On Tuesday night, Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin joined that group of less-than-distinguished gentlemen by injuring himself while celebrating Toronto’s win over the Baltimore Orioles.
Even by baseball standards, the way Martin hurt himself is pretty embarrassing:
Russ Martin split open the pinky finger on his left hand giving a high five after the game. Got stitched up. Says he's fine to play.— Arden Zwelling (@ArdenZwelling) October 5, 2016
Still, at least he’ll be getting back out there, unlike Jeff Baker did after the same issue in 2013.
