When the Dodge Demon was released earlier this year with its 840 ponies, our ears perked up, because it looked like a car that was born and bred on a drag strip.

So we weren't a bit surprised when we later saw a call to apply for something called “Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge.” In its second year, the event takes place at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan on August 12th.

Safe to say there's gonna be one helluva horsepower showdown on iconic Woodward Avenue. And while they won’t be racing for pinks per sae, there is a purse totaling $29,000 to split among winners. Plus, there are thrill rides: such adrenaline adventures include jetting around in a 707hp Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and Charger SRT Hellcat and 645hp Dodge Viper.

The event will also have a show ‘n’ shine area for peacocking, Pro BMW shows, dyno runs Dodge Demon drag race simulators to play with and Roadkill stunts and exhibitions galore. And you can count on that 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon squealing down the dragstrip, helmed by NHRA Top Fuel dragster driver Leah Pritchett and Funny Car driver Matt Hagan.

To glitter things up at bit, this year will also host the first-ever celebrity showdown with Roadkill co-hosts David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan, drag racing stars Leah Pritchett and Matt Hagan, The House of Muscle car maestro Mike Musto, and Hot Rod Garage hosts Tony Angelo and Lucky Costa. And leading the races will be Freiburger and Finnegan, co-hosts of the popular YouTube automotive original series in the United States. And in altruistic form, the celebrity showdown champion will be awarded $10,000, which will be donated to their charity of choice.

If you can’t make the jaunt to middle America, the hoopla will be live-streamed here at Dodge.com.

But it’s going to be a righteous, rubber-burning time. If you’re heading that way, don’t forget your earplugs. Or if you can swing it, you still have two days to apply.
