Doing things the hard way builds character, garners respect.

But if you have millions to throw around and have the chance to make yourself a serious Ferrari collector overnight — who could blame you?

Because coming this August to RM Sotheby’s Monterey Auction, where a ‘62 Ferrari 250 GTO once sold for $38M, are 13 ultra-fine Ferrari steeds for the taking, many without reserve.

The roster is a teenage boy’s bedroom poster spectacular, including the following:

  • 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta by Scaglietti
  • 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 by Scaglietti
  • 1969 Ferrari Dino 206 GT by Scaglietti
  • 1976 Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina
  • 1983 Ferrari 512 BBi
  • 1984 Ferrari 512 BBi
  • 1989 Ferrari 328 GTS
  • 1991 Ferrari F40
  • 2004 Ferrari 260 Challenge Stradale
  • 2005 Ferrari 575 Superamerica
  • 2009 Ferrari 16M Scuderia Spider
  • 2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia
  • 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO

And the line-up, save two models, are all glossed over in that neck-breaking Rosso Corsa red.

The MVP is certain to be the ‘61 250 GT SWB Berlinetta by Scaglietti, which will run a gent in the ballpark of $8M to $10M. Combined, the cars have an estimated auction value of $18M.

Seeing you probably won’t be buying the whole collection, don’t even think about starting a Ferrari collection without earning your spurs by picking up that ‘91 F40. Everyone knows it’s the right of passage.

Head on over to RM Sotheby’s for details on the whole lot.
